T In The Park launches T Break talent contest

A panel of industry experts, including people at BBC Radio 1 and DF Concerts, will select 16 lucky bands who will share a bill with the likes of Muse, Eminem and Kasabian.

The competition is open to any unsigned musical act residing in Scotland, provided they are over 18 and perform original material. Past performers on the stage have included Biffy Clyro and Paolo Nutini.

Dave McGeachan
of DF Concerts said, “T Break is a great opportunity for new bands and each year we’re amazed by how much talent is out there.

“Over the years we’ve seen some brilliant bands take to the stage. The judges really do listen to every demo so if you think you’ve got what it takes then send us yours.”

Artists interested in entering need to visit www.tennents.com/break for full details on how to submit their work.

Deadline for submissions is on 16 April.

T in the Park 2010 takes place at Balado, Kinross-shire from 9-11 July.

T In The Park 2010 sells out in under 90 minutes

Organisers have confirmed one of the event's most impressive line-ups ever with Muse, Kasabian and Eminem set to headline alongside The Prodigy, Jay-Z and The Black Eyed Peas.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis believes it is a combination of a great choice of acts and recession-busting times which has made this year's event so popular. He said: “We know that we have an exceptionally strong line-up for 2010 but you can’t be complacent, it’s still momentous for us to sell out now as it was the first time we did and we’re really delighted.”

“It’s great to know 85,000 music lovers think we’ve made the right choices and can’t wait for July 9th, and we can’t wait to put the best T in the Park yet on for them.”

Not stopping there, festival bosses have added hip hop legend Jay-Z to proceedings alongside Black Eyed Peas, who will also be making their way across the Atlantic.

The Prodigy and Faithless are set to appear on the live dance front with Carl Cox, David Guetta, Slam and Erol Alkan among those to get behind the decks.

Speaking about the announcement, organiser Geoff Ellis said: "Our line-up is already undeniably strong and diverse this year and we’ve still got lots more up our sleeves to announce.

“Shaping the bill for Scotland's finest and favourite festival is an absolute honour and I can’t wait for July 8th when the campsite gates open for the Thursday night campers and the party begins in true T in the Park style. I’m delighted with our artist announcements and hope the T in the Park audience has another great weekend to remember!"

Other names confirmed today include Stereophonics, Florence and the Machine, Vampire Weekend, 30 Seconds To Mars, The Cribs, Mumford And Sons and Dizzee Rascal.

Paolo Nutini, Biffy Clyro, The View and The Proclaimers will also represent Scotland at this year’s event alongside Calvin Harris, John Mayer, Hot Chip, Goldfrapp, Wolfmother, Plastikman and Skunk Anansie.
